Dave Bain

Dave Bain graduated from Camosun College with a BBA, majoring in Marketing Communications Management. During the time he spent at Camosun Dave founded Surge Business Development. Surge is a company that puts a twist on traditional marketing, business strategy, and event planning by applying new-age business models. To date the company has hosted over 900 events/festivals all-the-while developing new marketing strategies for companies in the USA and Europe. More recently Dave founded the Rock of the Woods Music Festival. The music festival is held in the Cowichan Valley mid-summer and boosts 40+ acts over three days.? Chris first connected with Camosun College in 1982-83 when he was accepted into the Heavy Duty/Diesel Engine Pre-Apprentice Program, an earlier version of the current Heavy Duty/Commercial Transport Mechanic Foundation program attended by his son Aaron in 2009-10 - some 27 years later! Chris later went on to obtain Red Seal Certification as an Automotive Service Technician, completing all required annual apprenticeship training at Camosun from 1985–87. Prior to his current position as Automotive Fleet Manager for BC Ferries, he was employed in Public Sector Fleet Management for the Province of BC, after working in industry as a Technician/Partner of a mechanical repair shop. A long time member and former Board Director of the Canadian Association of Fleet Supervisors (CAFS) Chris has many years of experience in transportation fleet management and consulting.

Kate Daniels

Kate Daniels

Kate Daniels has 24 years in the Public Service, having worked in both federal and provincial governments. Her current role as Business Lead for Performance Management in the BC Public Service gives her the opportunity to work on something that she's passionate about – the people who work serving the public. She has previous experience as a Director at Energy Mines and Petroleum Resources where she developed the labour policy for the 2007 Energy Plan and was an advisor to the Deputy Minister. Early in her career as a Senior Executive Recruiter at the Canada Employment and Immigration Commission, Kate worked in the areas of labour market programming and employment counselling. Kate is a proud Camosun College graduate, whose commitment to lifelong learning has resulted in her attaining certification as a Performance Coach and she continues to pursue advanced coaching studies. She is a recipient of the Public Service Gold Award for Excellent Internal Communications and the BC Public Service Agency Award of Excellence for Curiosity and Innovation. Kate also sits on the Bulkley Valley Agricultural and Industrial Association Board of Directors and in her spare time enjoys the outdoor recreational pursuits that the Bulkley Valley affords.

Jared Webb

Jared joined Fernhill Financial in 2006 and began his career as a values based financial advisor. With a passion for excellence and a unique ability to work with his clients, Jared provides the exceptional service associated with this local, independent firm. In addition to his qualifications as a Life Agent and Investment Funds Advisor, he is also currently pursuing his Certified Financial Planner designation. In 2005, he completed his business administration diploma at Camosun College prior to transferring to Royal Roads University to obtain his Bachelor of Commerce degree in Entrepreneurial Management. His decision to pursue his education through Camosun and Royal Roads allowed Jared to obtain his degree in 3 years while providing the framework for critical thinking and analysis; traits very useful in his vocation.

He is the President of the Vancouver Island Chapter of Advocis and has been a member at large since 2006. This organization is the oldest and largest voluntary professional membership association of financial advisors in Canada. Jared is also a member of the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce and is actively involved as the mentorship lead with the Prodigy Group, Victoria's premium networking group for emerging professionals. As part of a balanced lifestyle, Jared enjoys playing hockey and soccer on the weekends; yet most importantly, he enjoys spending time with his family.
